For over two years I worked for the Miami Hurricane. Without a doubt, it was one of my greatest college experiences.
The first cover I ever designed for The Miami Hurricane was also one of my first awards from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in Computer Generated Illustration (First Place). That year I received four Columbia Scholastic Press awards, for Feature Page Design (Second Place), Overall Design (Second Place), and Photo Illustration (Second Place).
During my two years at The Miami Hurricane, I witnessed many changes, and implemented many more myself. After being named Art Director in 2008, I started changing the design, and focus of the paper. By implementing more infographics, charts, and other visuals, the Hurricane became a much more newsworthy paper, and therefore became more important to the student body. In my last few months as Art Director, I did a complete redesign of the paper to make it look more current. The paper is still award-winning today.
